Commercial Postage

The acceptance of commercial documents for transmission by post at letter or parcel rates had been approved by the Postmaster-General in the meantime, the Chief Postmaster (Mr M. E, Wilson) said.

When “commercial papers” was abolished in January as a separate category in the overseas post, the New Zealand Post Office received inquiries as to whether such documents, which singly had to be sent by letter post, could be sent in bulk by parcel post either by air or surface posh Mr Wilson said. The point had been discussed with several overseas administrations and had been put to the executive council of the Universal Postal Union, but the decision of this council was not yet available.
