A BATHING POOL IN THE AVON MORE THAN 80 YEARS AGO.—A reproduction of a photograph, believed to have been taken before 1880, of a swimming pool in the Avon. The photograph was sent to “The Press” by Mr R. Wreaks, of Fendalton, who said it was from his father’s collection. He understands that this pool was behind the present-day R.S.A. bowling green, in North Hagley Park, and it was constantly used by his father and contemporaries.
