DEPARTMENT HOLIDAYS

A number of Government departments in Christchurch will close on December 23 and will not resume until January 3. Others will be open between Christmas and New Year and will resume from January 3. Those offices which will be closed for the whole period are the Government Life Insurance office, the departments of Health, Industries and Commerce, Inland Revenue, Justice (Land and Deeds office), Labour, Maori Affairs, Marine and Valuation, and the offices of the Public Trust, State Advances Corporation ,and State Services Commission. The Customs, Transport, Justice (Births. Deaths and Marriages), and Social Security Departments will be open between December 28 and December 30, inclusive, the State Insurance office on December 29 and 30, and the Agriculture Department on December 29.

The Tourist Department will observe the following hours: —

December 24 and 26, 9 a.m. to noon; December 27, 9 a.m. to 12.30 pun. and 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. December 28 to 30, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.; December 31 and January 2. 9 a.m. to noon.
