Dual Currency Price Lists Out

(By Our Grocery Reporter) Retailers and wholesalers are now receiving from manufacturers numerous price lists showing selling prices in both sterling and decimal currencies.

With the 21 per cent wage increase operating from the beginning of this month, manufacturers affected will probably adjust their prices and convert costs to decimal currency. Ceylon Tee.—The Wainul and the Orna have left Colombo during the three-week shipping strike, with very little tea. The Bankura leaves on December 20 and should arrive here about

the middle of January. Reasonable stocks of tea are held here, but the delays could pose a problem for tea packers. Honey. Packing problems have cut the supply of the honey marketing authority's gift pack of three plastic pots. These have been a good seller, especially for sending overseas. Stocks should again be available for Christmas. H.Z. Canned Fruit.—According to one large Hastings canner, substantial stocks have been drawn on. The fruit salad 30oz stock is depleted and the 16oz and lloz are selling out fast. Pear stocks have finished after a heavy demand. Peaches are holding well, except chunks, which have sold out'. This could be the largest selling year for New Zealand canned fruit. Earlier, it was thought that this was a record canning season. Freeze Dried Products.—T. J. Edmonds, Ltd., is adding three more freeze-dried products before Christmas. They are smoked lobster Newburg, crayfish curry and chicken supreme, all with rice. Each should sell for 5s 3d each, and a packet should serve two or three. Business Personal Mr D. R. Richards has been appointed a director of Northern Steam Ship Company, Ltd., Auckland, to fill the vacancy created by the death of Mr E. H. Rhodes. Mr H. M. Rogerson has been elected chairman and Mr A. G. Hardy managing director.
