Dunster Guilty
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 8. James Elwin David Dunster was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Supreme Court at Auckland tonight. Dunster, aged 19, an unemployed shop assistant and guitarist, was charged with the murder of his mother, Mrs Lyle Fraser Dunster, at Herne Bay on August 24. The jury retired at 2.50 p.m., dined from 6-7 p.m., and returned its verdict at 9 p.m. The foreman added a rider drawing attention to the laxity in the sale of shotguns and demanding that proof of age be furnished on purchase.
The trial was before Mr Justice Hardie Boys.
