Heavy Coat A Burden

Tourists who travel during summer months do not need a topcoat A light-wool suit with a change of blouses and a plaaUc or poplin raincoat kept handy in a grip, should meet all whims of climate.

A heavy travelling coat is a burden in warm weather if it has to be carried. It puts up the weight of a suitcase unnecessarily, as well as becoming creased and crushing lighter closes, when packed. When visiting countries with a heavy rainfall, it is a good idea to take a folding umbrella in a handbag. These are light to carry and will tuck in easily at the bottom of a big, travelling handbag. When going for a cruise or an overseas tour, take some clothes you will be prepared to throw away on the journey. Part of the fun of going overseas is buying a few new dresses, but they can be an embarrassment for air travellers with a baggage weight problem.

Shoes and clothing that are still too good to discard can be posted home by surface mail to make room for new ones. It is a good idea to

wear all new clethea before bringing them home. Obviously worn clothing is not subject to customs duty at your home port
