Sir Barton Fit At Hastings

"The Press’* Special Service HASTINGS.

Sir Barton and Lucky Rebel, which will contest the Wattle's Gold Cup at Woodville tomorrow, ran satisfactory final trials at Hastings yesterday. Each is at peak fitness. On the plough, which was slightly holding, Lucky Rebel (J. T. Anderson) and Fon (R. Grantham) covered seven furlongs in Imin 37 2-ssec, the last three in 41 4-ssec. Lucky Rebel has freshened after his Riccarton trip and could be prominent. Sir Barton (R. B. Marsh) took Imin 20 2-ssec for six furlongs, the last three in 38sec. He worked strongly in the straight and obviously took no harm from his trip to Te Rapa, where he won the Miller Mile, but had a bad run in the Waikato Cup. He will be ridden by J. A. Messent at Woodville.
