BURKE’S ISSUE

Hopes To Pay 9 p.c.

Burke’s Caterers Ltd., caterer and hotel owner, hopes to maintain its 9 per cent dividend rate on capital raised by the one-for-four premium issue, if the present profitable trading conditions continue. In his interim report the chairman (Mr A. R. Guthrey) says that turn-over and profit ■ for the half-year to September ; 30 show satisfactory increases over the period last year. I The increases have been spread over all activities of 'the group. I As announced, the interim dividend of 4 per cent is unchanged. Funds from the issue will be used to finance the purchase of land and buildings owned by Messrs John Calder Ltd., Riccarton. Long-Term Plans

This will provide valuable buildings and land essential for long-term development, says Mr Guthrey.

Shares in the issue will not participate in the final dividend for this year but from then will rank equally with existing shares. The 5s shares will be issued at 6s 6d and the full amount is payable with applications which close on June 20.
