Freight Rate To East Rises

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, November 30.

The shipping lines associated in the New Zealand Eastern Shipping Committee operating services from New Zealand to Manila, Hong Kong and Japan announced today that refrigerated cargo rates of freight to these destinations would be increased from January, 1967.

The lines said that the adjustments had become necessary as a result of continuing increases in the cost of running their services.

However, the lines said they were willing and prepared to take part in experiments to see if a more efficient mutton unit could be devised by traders in place of the present mutton carcase, which was an inefficient stowage unit. They would re-

consider the rate of freight for this commodity after evaluation of the experiments. The shipping companies associated in this committee are the China Navigation Co., Ltd., Crusader Shipping Co., Ltd., Japan Line, Ltd., MitsuiO.S.K. Lines, Ltd., and Royal Interocean Lines.
