Baird Wins Rugby Blue

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON

A former pupil of Christ’s College, J. S. Baird, is included in the Oxford XV to meet Cambridge in the annual university Rugby match at Twickenham on December 6.

Baird, a former Otago and Canterbury representative, is the only freshman in the Oxford team.

He has won a place, probably at tight-head prop, from O. C. Waldron, whose ear was said to have been bitten by the Australian hooker, R. Cullen, when the university played the touring side.

Last season Waldron played for Ireland against Scotland and Wales but his form is said to have slipped badly in recent weeks although his ear has healed.
