(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright! SALISBURY, Nov. 30.
A special envoy from Mr Harold Wilson today makes his first contact with Rhodesian Go- _rnment officials to cry to clarify new proposals for settling the year-old independence issue.
Sir Morrice James, a senior Commonwealth Office diplomat, arrived in Salisbury unexpectedly last night. It was not until he was well on his way that first official word of the mission came in the British House of Commons from the Prime Minister. Renewed diplomatic contacts with Mr lan Smith’s regime take place on the day of Britain’s deadline for the Rhodesians to show signs of backing down on their seizure of independence.
