Died After Fall

A man died at midnight last night from injuries suffered when he fell from scaffolding on the site of the new Christ’s College assembly hall in Rolleston avenue about 9 a.m. yesterday. He was Thomas Arthur Huckle, aged 29, of 23 Middlepark road.

Mr Huckle, who suffered severe head leg injuries in the accident, was helping to erect a steel truss when it sprung back and knocked him off the scaffolding. Charles Raymond Hart, of 3 Halsey street, South New Brighton, suffered head injuries when he was struck by the handle of a mechanical concrete float about 4.45 p-m. yesterday. He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital where his condition last night was satisfactory.
