LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

(1) Letters sent to the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in ink on one side of the paper only. A legible signature and full address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P.O. box number is not a sufficient address. (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. (3) The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing; nor ean he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence. (4) Letters must not be of more than 150 words.

Hopeless.—lf you have a grievance you should consult a lawyer. Observer.—No address. But have you not written on the election over your own name? Beachcomber.—You do not show the relevance of the question to the election. Lynette Williams.—Rhodesia is not under discussion except as an issue in the General Election. M. A. Shepherd.— Vie should think the tenant is entitled to hold evidence of payments made by him. C.B.M.—Programmes are not the subject of discussion; only the propriety of the N.Z.B.C. staff’s protest. A.H.W.H.—We have no space for a discussion of State aid to private schools. Your theory is difficult to reconcile with the increase in abstentions. Wide Awake.—We have no record of Mr Holyoake claiming that the Social Credit vote was less than in 1954.
