DIED FROM DROWNING
Kaitawa Crew Inquest

AUCKLAND, Nov. 23.
All 29 of the crew of the collier Kaitawa died from drowning in the Tasman Sea about 10 miles from Cape Reinga on May 23 when the ship foundered while going from Westport to Portland, the Auckland Coroner, Mr A. D. Copeland, found today.
He was concluding an inquest into the death of the motorman, John Easton Wright, whose body was recovered after the shipwreck, and, by direction of the At-torney-General, inquests into the presumed deaths of the 28 others aboard whose bodies were not found.
The search co-ordinator, Sergeant W. A. Douglas, and the shore search controller, Senior-Sergeant G. I. Melville, described the extensive unsuccessful searches for survivors.
