Brian Robert Froome, aged 18, of Scargill, suffered serere injuries when the car he was driving ran into the back of a grader on the Motunau Beach road yesterday morning. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. He is on the seriously ill list and last evening his condition was reported to be only fair.

Mr Froome works for a contractor. His parents live in Western Australia.

The grader and car were both travelling east. The grader was off the bitumen, grading the shoulder of the road.

Mr Froome’s car hit the grader’s left-hand rear wheel. The car was wrecked and the wheel of the grader damaged. Dr. B. F. Heyward and Constable H. C. Hollander of Cheviot, were called to the scene. A St. John Ambulance from Cheviot took Mr Froome to hospital.
