Stoneflies To Be Studied

South Pacific stoneflies, aquatic insects sometimes found under rocks near streams and lakes, will soon come under close observation from scientists.

Professor J. lilies, of the Max Planck Institute for Limnology, at Schlitz-Hessen in West Germany, will collaborate in the study with Mr J. G. Penniket, the Canterbury Museum’s research officer in entomology, and Mr I. McLellan (Westport), an associate of the museum’s department of entomology. Dr. R. Duff told a meeting of the Canterbury Museum Trust Board on Thursday that Professor lilies was recognised as the world authority on stoneflies.
