BATTERY IN VIETNAM

Troops Ask To Join (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. Nov. 20. Between 30 and 40 troops returning to New Zealand from service with the First Battalion, New Zealand Infantry Regiment in Malaysia, have re-engaged for service with the artillery battery in South Vietnam. This was announced jn Napier on Saturday by Lieu-tenant-Colonel H. L. Jones, director of Army recruiting. Recruiting men to serve with 161 Battery in Vietnam had gone most satisfactorily through the year, said Colonel Jones.

In addition to men joining direct' from civilian life, between 30 and 40 infantrymen returning from service in South-east Asia had re-en-listed rather than return to civilian life on completion of their engagements, provided they could transfer to artillery and go overseas again.
