Australia Set For Easy Victory

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) CAPE TOWN. Australia looked headed for easy victory after two days’ play in its four-day cricket match against Western Province at Newlands.

In reply to Australia’s first innings total of 504 for nine declared. Western Province scored 191. Sent in a second time, Western Province lost three for 31 in the remaining 40 minutes’ play. Seventeen wickets fell in an eventful day s play. A feature was K. SUckpole’s 138 not out for Australia and a hard-hit 82 by Western Province's D. McCay. After G. McKenzie had made early inroads into the Western Province first innings batting, the off-spinner, R. Cowper, dis-

missed most of the rest of the side. McKenzie captured three wickets for five runs. In his total, 25-year-old Stackpole hit 20 boundaries in a dashing performance that puts him prominently in the running for the test series. Resuming at 54, Stackpole added another 84 runs in the two hours before lunch before Lawry declared the Australian innings closed. It was Stackpale’s second century in first-class cricket and his highest score.
