SIR WALTER NASH
Question On Age Limit
Eighty-four-year-old Sir Walter Nash last night told a questioner that he was continuing as a member of Parliament because he knew what had happened in past years, and had experience. He was addressing an election meeting attended by about 60 persons in the Masonic Hall, Cashmere Hills. Sir Walter Nash had been asked for his opinion on an age limit for members of Parliament. “I think it is good for me to be there,” he said. “I’m 84; I know I’m lively, and I was born on the same day as Abraham Lincoln.”
The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) was able to think about the heart of a problem and speak about it, Sir Walter Nash said. “He has a young group with him who will do a good job,” he added. “I stay because I’ve got experience, and that’s something you can’t learn or study; you have to acquire it.”
Missing Girl Found.—Kay Marie Fagan, aged 16, of 17 Torlesse street, Nelson, who had been missing from her home since October 27, was found by the police in Christchurch this week.
