GUARANTEE OFFERED

—R. McNeil (Social Credit)

As Social Credit candidate for St. Albans, I ask for your vote because I sincerely believe that Social Credit has the answer to many of New Zealand’s problems. In fact, we guarantee that if we cannot carry out what we say is possible, we would expect a vote of no confidence at the very next poll.

Will National or Labour give you any guarantee of any description? Certainly not They certainly give us political balloons filled with hot air and then gradually let the air out over the following three years. If Labour is elected we can already guess the headlines—“Labour Discovers National Purse Empty. Country in Worse State than Realised.” If National is elected they will discover that since

Parliament rose the country has deteriorated rapidly and something will have to be done.

I ask you, how much longer are we going to put up with this childish nonsense? If Labour and National can discover these things after the election and not before, it must stand as a gross indictment of their intelligence, or perhaps ours for asking such incompetent men and women to keep the nation’s accounts.

Every country has the catch cry “export or die.” New Zealand had record exports in the last fiscal year, but we are dying rapidly to the tune of many millions in our balance of payments account obviously bad housekeeping at national level and a Government incompetent to right same. As a New Zealander two generations removed from the pioneers of this country it concerns me to see the apathetic attitude that the average elector adopts to this ever-increasing spiral of borrowing, taxation costs, and the response that we get in Social Credit would be just the same. Try us, and if you are not satisfied, the remedy lies in your hands, but at least you will have challenged us to prove that Social Credit can reduce taxation and the costs of goods and services to all our mutual benefit. Social Credit can do these things. We give you that guarantee. Will Labour or National?
