Apology To Moslems
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) KARACHI, Nov. 6. The British High Commission in Karachi has apologised for any distress caused by a cartoon published in “The Times” which caused a demonstration by 10,000 mullahs (Moslem religious men) in Dacca.
The cartoon dealt with Britain and the European Common Market and depicted the British Prime Minister, Mr Wilson, as the Prophet Mohammed. The commission stated that ‘The Times” was an independent newspaper, and the British Government had no control over it.
