APPRENTICE INJURED

Fall During Training

The Riccarton apprentice C. Kerkvliet was taken to Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday with a fractured ankle after a fall during a training gallop. Kerkvliet was tossed from the saddle near the finishing post when his mount, Ramadan, stumbled after getting on the heels of her stablemate Dipmate, ridden by the injured boy’s brother J. Kerkvliet.

Dipmate lost a hind shoe. The twin brothers are indentured to J. L. Barr.
