Land From River
The Ashburton Borough Council has acquired nearly two acres and a half of land built up by the gradual action of the Ashburton river. The council has applied to the Land Transfer Office for the land to be included in its title. The council owns the land adjoining the new area, and under the Land Act the owner of an adjoining property may apply to the Land Transfer Office for title to any land which has accrued through natural circumstances, such as earthquake or river buildup.
