Chichester To Meet Wife (N.Z.P.A.-Reuttr—Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 2. The veteran navigatoryachtsman, Francis Chichester, expects to be greeted by his wife when he sails up Sydney Harbour at the halfway mark of his “clipper run” voyage. Mrs Chichester set off on her part of the journey aboard the liner Oriana yesterday. Her husband, sailing solo his yacht Gipsy Moth IV, last reported that he had reached the Roaring Forties and expected to reach Sydney soon; after Christmas.
Sixty • four • year • old Mr Chichester hopes to sail the 28,500 miles to Australia and back to London within 200 days—the average time taken by the wool clippers on the old run.
Recent reports by radio from him to the International Wool Secretariat in London showed that he was having “smooth sailing”—but was rather disappointed by the lack of good winds.
