Merger Terms Refused fN. Z.P.A.-Reuter— Coppripht I LONDON. Nov. 2. Imperial Chemical Industries tonight formally rejected, for the time being, Courtaulds’ proposals for the merger of the two companies’ fibres interests. 1.C.1.'s board rejected the merger proposals after it had studied recommendations of a special subcommittee. In a statement announcing the rejection, 1.C.1. said Courtaulds had approached them with two proposals That Courtaulds* textile interests should be merged with Viyella International, and that Courtaulds and IC.I. should merge their respective interests in a joint company in which 1.C.1. would hold the major interest As a large shareholder in Viyella, 1.C.1. must reserve its position until the merger terms became known, said the statement.
