The Avon senior men's softball team has lost a game that it won by 13 runs in five innings on October 8. In its victory over United during the first championship round, Avon played K. McDonald whose transfer was not in the hands of the Canterbury association. McDonald transferred from the North Island this season. The reversal of the result gave United its first championship point and brought it level with Avon. The points are now: Richmond 4. Western Suburbs 3, Papanui 3, Avon 1, United 1, Kaiapoi 0.
