Welder Wins £lO,OOO
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 2 ; Mrs Audrey Carter, of Moera, Lower Hutt, learned last night that she had shared a Melbourne Cup lottery prize of £lO,OOO. Mrs Carter was viewing the television news in her home with her 70-year-old mother, Mrs J. Till, when the main prize-winners of the Melbourne Cup lottery were announced.
It was announced that "A and M,” of Lower Hutt, had won the £lO,OOO prize, and Mrs Carter said she had no doubt it was the ticket she and her mother shared.
“A for Audrey, M for mum,” she said. Mrs Carter said she accepted the news calmly. Her mother was perhaps a little excited. They were both very pleased with their good fortune, but were not planning any special celebration.
