ROWING ASSN UNDER FIRE
‘Unfair Voting Power’ (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The main centre’s unfair voting power in the Amateur Rowing Association will come under fire when the association meets in Wellington on Friday. The voting power—at present weighted in favour of the larger associations—will be considered on a motion by Wanganui seeking equal voting power for all associations. Membership numbers should have no bearing on on voting power, Wanganui claim.
The present rule is considered outmoded and unfair, and, in support of this, Wanganui will point out that practically every amateur sporting body in the country has an equal vote policy decisions, no matter what their membership strength.
Two candidates will stand for president of the association: Mr C. Butterfield, nominated by Canterbury, Marlboroug) and Otago, and Mr H. T. Jellie, nominated by Auckland and Wanganui.
