EXPORT OF LAMBS
Co-op Pays lid Extra (N.Z. Prets Association) DUNEDIN, Nov. 1. Farmers will receive an additional lid a lamb for exportable careases put through the Primary Producers’ Cooperative Society, Ltd., during the year to September 30. This was announced today by the society’s chairman (Mr T. McCristell), who reported that the kill for the season of 1,721,577 was the second best yet. In spite of the decline of United Kingdom market prices by almost 12s a carcase since July, a balance available for distribution of £72,936 had been achieved. This meant that suppliers of lamb would receive a final payment in excess of full schedule of lid an exportable carcase.
In addition, suppliers of boner cattle would receive a surplus on full schedule of 7s fid per 100 lb.
Mr McCristell said that in the last 12 seasons the society had achieved for its members an average surplus on full schedule of more than 2s 7d a lamb, which was the equivalent of Id per lb in excess of every schedule which had operated in that time.
