MIDDY AMISS

Middy, the Stewards' Handicap top-weight, is under veterinary treatment. Mr G. B. Thomson’s good sprinter was sound when he pulled up after finishing second in the Le Bons Handicap at Motukarara last Saturday, but was showing signs of lameness after doing light exercise at Riccarton on Sunday morning. Mr Thomson had the horse examined yesterday, and It was confirmed that a splint was developing on Ms near foreleg. Mr Thomson said last evening that the veterinarian hoped Middy would respond to the treatment and would be fit to run in the second leg of the Canterbury Jockey Club's T.A.B. double on Saturday.
