TEACHERS ARRIVE

Seven From Asia

Seven South-east Asian teachers arrived in Christchurch yesterday to begin a three-week course at the Christchurch Teachers’ College as part of a Colombo Plan scheme to instruct in the teaching of English as a second language. The seven have been sent to Christchurch as part of a course at Victoria University, Wellington. Other members of the course have been sent to other teachers’ colleges. The seven are: Miss Wong Fui Yin (Sabah), Miss Lay Lay Tan (Singapore), Mr Oejoen Sanit (Indonesia), Mr Chong-Kook Rhee (South Korea), Mr Khate Ratanajarana (Thailand), Mr F. E. A. Adenan (Indonesia), and Mr Zainal-Abidin Haji Merjan (Sarawak).
