Airline’s Gift To Gallery
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 21. A painting by Roland Wakelin, a New Zealand-born artist who worked in Australia, will be given by Air New Zealand to the Auckland Art Gallery. The gift comes after the gallery's appeal to firms for help in starting an Australian collection. The painting is “Blues Point,” a landscape in oil of Sydney Harbour in 1933. Mr Wakelin, now 79, gained a wide reputation overseas, but his work is not well known here.
