TO LEAD QUI NHON TEAM

Dannevirke Doctor (N.Z. Press Association > WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) announced tonight that the new leader of the medical team in South Vietnam would be Dr. P. H. E. Smith, who is at present medical superintendent of the Dannevirke Hospital. Dr. Smith will replace Dr. D. P. Short early next year. Mr Holyoake said the Government was fortunate in securing Dr. Smith’s services for this project which represented New Zealand’s major current contribution to South Vietnam in the field of civilian aid. “Dr. Smith will. I am sure, prove a worthy successor to Dr. Short, who has applied himself unsparingly and with no small measure of success to the arduous task of relieving the suffering of Vietnamese civilians in the Qul Nhon area,” said Mr Holyoake.
