Three hundred “saints” and their supporters, some of them naked, marched on the home of the Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi yesterday to demand a national ban on cow slaughter. ■ The saints are members, of )the fanatical Naga sect—" The (Naked Ones”—who are sup;posed to become violent at i the slightest provocation. The demonstration w T as one of a number at Mrs Gandhi's house in recent weeks demanding that Parliament invoke a national ban on cow slaughter in recognition of the Hindu belief that the cow is sacred. The riot squad was called out 1 but no arrests were made.
