BIRTWISTLE MOVES
W. M. Birtwistle, the Canterbury and All Black wing, has taken up a new position in Rotorua and will leave Christchurch this week. Since he first played for ! Canterbury, in 1962, Birt-j wistle has been one of the! prime favourites at Lancaster Park because of his brilliant attacking play on the right wing. He has scored some magnficent tries for his club, Christchurch, and for Canterbury, and for the last five years has been one of the
leading try-scorers in New Zealand Rugby. After some fine play in the 1963 and 1964 seasons, Birtwistle received his first international cap, when he was c) osen for the first test against the Springboks. He celebrated that occasion by scoring a try and ■ scored another—a truly brilliant one—in the fourth test at Eden Park. A hamstring injury stopped Birtwistle from playing in the tests against the Lions this season, although he was chosen for the first test. Birtwistle, who is 27, will continue playing Rugby next season,
