TV STUDIO SITE

Appeal By Residents

An appeal has been lodged with the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board against the City Council’s decision approving television and radio studios in Butler street, Opawa.

The appeal has been lodged by Mr B. McClelland on behalf of Aynsley terrace residents who object to the building of. the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation studios on the site. A City Council spokesman said yesterday that there seemed to be no provision for appeal against conditional uses, but this was now a matter for the appeal board. When the council made its decision it had a petition with more than 200 signatures of residents of the area favouring the building and landscaping of the site as well as the objecting petition.
