AUCKLAND HORSES
Southern Trip Unlikely "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. Swartz Pete will not compete at the New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington Raceway next month. It is also unlikely that his stablemate. Lonesome Valley. will go south. Their trainer, ’R. Purdon, said yesterday that they would race at the Auckland meeting during Labour week-end. Afterwards they would be prepared for the Auckland Trotting Cup. Swartz Pete and Lonesome Valley are on 2:11, the probable limit for the Auckland Trotting Cup. Success at the Labour week-end meeting would bring a reassessment to the New Zealand Cup limit of 2:10. Plans for Our Eileen to go to Addington have also been cancelled, but her stablemate, Our Luck, may make the trip. E. C. Hair, who trains the pair, said yesterday that he would enter Our Luck for the meeting. "But I will wait until after the Auckland meeting before deciding whether to go,” he said.
It seems probable that Bobbinet will be the only Pukekohe representative in the New Zealand Cup. She will be taken south and driven in her races by I. O. Thomas, who is now training her. She was transfered from K. F. Morrison’s stables earlier in the week.
