MR KIRK’S ADVICE

Protest On Visit (NZ Press Association) WELLINGTON. October 13. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) tonight called upon opponents of Government policy on troops for Vietnam to forgo demonstrating during President Johnson's visit next week. Speaking in Parliament during tonight’s debate of Vietnam, Mr Kirk reiterated his statement of welcome to the President and Mrs Johnson which he issued soon after their visit to New Zealand was announced. He told the House he was restating this because some people apparently believed they could best demonstrate their opinion in one way or another. The country was close enough to a General Election for demonstration of opinion .to be done in a constitutional way.

Mr Kirk said the head of a great country should receive every courtesv.
