LOWER AIR FARES

Tasman And Pacific (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. Cuts in Pacific and transTasman air fares have been announced by Air New Zealand, and will come into effect next April 1, subject to Government approval. The cuts were agreed at the recent international airlines’ conference at Honolulu. Air New Zealand’s delegate, Mr N. R. Searle, said the cuts would include a 25 per cent reduction on the round-trip economy-class fares between the West Coast of the United States and New Zealand, from £333 13s to £250. The fare to or from Hawaii would be reduced from £265 Ils to £l9B 19s. Mid-winter cuts in transTasman fares include up to 40 per cent reduction on normal fares between June 1 and August 15 and the extension of family fares to cover travel on all days of the week except Friday and Saturday. A special youth fare available to persons under 26 holding an Australian or New Zealand passport will be introduced between the South Pacific and the United Kingdom and Europe.
