Jazy, earned thunderous applause as he ended his brilliant International athletics career by breaking the world 2000 metres record. Jazy broke the record with a time of 4min 56.25ec at a meeting held at St. Maur to celebrate his retirement The previous record wu set in September this year by H. Norpoth (Germany) in 4min 57.8 sec. Jazy, aged 30, set a world record for the distance four years ago—smin l.Csec—and held It for three years until it was broken in 1965 by J. Odlozil (Czechoslovakia) with smin 01.2 sec.
