FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold southerly airstream covers New Zealand.
Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Southerly winds, strong on the Kaikoura Coast and fresh in other exposed positions; showers clearing from the south, and the partly cloudy weather, already prevailing in South Canterbury, reaching the Kaikoura Coast tonight; cold with some frosts. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson, Central Marlborough and the Sounds. —Southerlies, strong at first about Cook Strait, fresh in other exposed places and slowly decreasing; scattered showers, persisting about the high country but clearing elsewhere; cold with some frosts. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Winds from a south erly quarter, mainly moderate, but some local gustiness; fine weather, with moderate day temperatures but some sharp frosts.
