Prague Quartet

Sir,—lt was most heartening to read in your issue of October 4 that the Christchurch Civic Music Council would make a helpful gesture of £250 towards the cost of engaging a quartet of top quality for the 1967 university year. Equally heartening was Thursday’s announcement of the probable return to Christchurch of the Prague Quartet in 1968. Those who plan and work so hard to make these great artists available to our students and citizens will be further encouraged if we who have been given so much, respond to the invitation to show our appreciation in a practical way.—Yours, etc., VERY GRATEFUL. October 10, 1966.
