Fellowship Awarded
Mr D. W. Botherway. of Christchurch, has been awarded a Rotary Foundation fellowship for study abroad during the 1967-68 academic year. In preparation for a career in industrial administration. Mr Botherway will study at Wayne State University, Detroit His application for the fellowship was sponsored by the Christchurch Rotary Club. Mr Botherway, born in Christchurch, is aged 25, and single. He took a bachelor's
degree in electrical engineering at the University of Canterbury in 1964, and expects to receive his master's degree this year. While an undergraduate, Mr , Botherway received a research scholarship from the university, the R. D. Neale memorial award, and a Christchurch City Council postgraduate scholarship. He was president of the Students’ Association, and an officer of the International Student Conference and of the Engineering Society. He is a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, and of the American Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. The Rotary Fellowship scholarship programme was begun in 1947, and is part of a world-wide effort by Rotary to promote friendship and understanding among different peoples. The 1967-68 scholarships were awarded to 154 students in 38 countries. The total number of scholarships now granted is 2298.
