House Petitioned About Architects

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Sept. 28. Parliament has again been petitioned about the

registration of architects. On September 20, Mr C. R. McAllister, of Christchurch, asked the House of Representives to revoke or amend provisions of the Architects Act. 1963, relating to registration. Mr McAllister, a practising architect until last June 28, had applied for registration as an architect, but was rejected by the Architects’ Registration Tribunal. His appeal against the decision was dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Today Mr R. S. Moir—also of Christchurch—described similar circumstances in his petition, presented by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk). Like Mr McAllister, Mr Moir practised architecture in Christchurch until June 28.

The petition claimed that more than 70 people had been deprived of their livelihood: the provisions of the act were being incorrectly carried out.
