Key Stocks Unsteady On Falling Market
Key stocks were unsteady and showed a net decline on a falling market yesterday. Turn-over, although higher this week, was below average, and falls outnumbered rises. Gains were made by New Zealand Breweries, up 2d at 13s 6d, Wright Stephenson, 6d in ex dividend sales of 29s 6d and J. Wattie new shares, up Id at 18s 7d. New Zealand Refining rose 6d to 43s 9d and South British Insurance was marked 3d up at 31s. Prominent among the falls were Consolidated Brick notes, down 9d at 13s and J. Wattie, 4d lower at 18s Bd. Winstone lost 6d to 38s. Tasman, at 565, Woolworths at Ils 3d, New Zealand Refrigerating deferred shares at 10s 6d and J. J. Niven at 16s each lost 3d. Lane, Walker, Rudkin lost Id of its recent advance.
