RADIO SHIP WATCHED

Instruction By Dept (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. A private security firm was keeping a watch on the vessel Tiri under orders from the Marine Department, a departmental official said in Auckland today. “The Tiri is a registered ship and if it is going to sail we want to know gbout it,” he said. The Tiri, owned by Radio Hauraki, is intended to be used as a radio-transmitting station for the company. A vehicle is usually parked on or near the Western viaduct in sight of the Tiri day and night. A company official said a security man had tried to board the Tiri, but “he was put off smartly.” The solicitor for Pacific Radio Advertising, Ltd., which is promoting Radio Hauraki, Mr R. L. MacLaren, said that it had not yet applied to have the Tiri surveyed as a ship—and it was not likely to apply.
