Autocrat Reacts To Dividend News

On a firming market —with rises outnumbering falls by 18 to 14—Autocrat reacted to the announcement that the interim dividend was kept steady at 10 per cent with a gain of 9d. The shares which have been slowly recovering over the last month from 9s lid to 10s 6d on Tuesday, sold in Auckland yesterday for Ils 3d.

The price level was firmer yesterday, but turn-over was down. There were some sharp adjustments in stocks which had not traded for some time—Feltex was marked down Is at 30s 6d, Beechey Underwood lost 2s 6d to 21s 6d in Dunedin sales, and Colonial Motors fell 2s to 595. Mannings, at 245, lost Is 6d. Other losses were narrow.

Some of the more notable rises were:- New Zealand Breweries at 13s 4d and Bank of New Zealand Finance at 12s 5d gained Id each, Amalgamated Batteries rose 6d to 365, General Foods rose 4d to 17s 3d, and National Insurance, at 23s 9d, South British, at 30s 9d, and New Zealand Refining, at 43s 3d, each gained 3d.
