Superiority In Forwards (N.Z. Press Association) Outplaying the touring Waikato Rugby team in al] phases of forward play, the i Otago pack took complete charge of the final 10 minutes of a representative match at Dunedin yesterday. Otago won, 17-8. Waikato was in front, 8-5, at half-time after spending most of the first 40 minutes in its own half. Otago’s points came from tries by A. J. Kreft and M. P. Collins, a conversion and penalty goal kicked by E. S. Taylor, and two penalty goals by D. W. Clark. R. Bartrum scored a try for Waikato; D. Flavell converted. Flavell also kicked a penalty. King Country yesterday won the Coronation Shield in its first year as a member of the Rugby provinces competing for the trophy, when it beat Bay of Plenty at Otorohanga, 6-nil. King Country led, 3-0, at half-time. H. Lilley scored both tries. Poverty Bay beat Counties. 15-3, at Gisborne yesterday, after leading, 3-nil, at halftime. It was Poverty Bay’s 300th first-class, match.
