Burnside High School Ball

Green and white, the school colours, were featured in all decorations when the first annual ball of the Burnside High School Old Pupils’ Association was held in the Hei Hei Country Club. Cabbage trees, the dominant feature in the school crest, were displayed in the foyer, on the stage and between the alcoves on the ballroom floor. A 10ft school crest was placed behind the official party. The 250 guests were welcomed by Miss J. Lindsey, and Messrs C. Stokes and G. Ball.

Specially invited guests included the headmaster (Mr C. C. Cross) and Mrs Cross: the board of governors’ representative, Mr B. Zeff, and Mrs Zeff: Parent Teachers’ Association representatives, Mr and Mrs Bishop; the senior mistress. Miss N. Clarke: and staff members Mr D. Wood h and Mrs Wood, and Mr B.
