Mr R. G. Lund Given New Post In I.W.S.
Mr R. G. Lund, a New Zealander, has been appointed deputy-managing director of the International Wool Secretariat.
Mr Lund, a former chief reporter of “The Press” and
later editor of the “Southland Times,” joined the LW.S. in 1946 as the New Zealand Wool Board representative. With his two colleagues from Australia and South Africa, Mr Lund helped to plan the development of the infant organisation. Within six years a network of offices had spread throughout Western Europe, to the United States and the East. In 1961, when the LW.S.
constitution was amended and the present managing director, Mr W. J. Vines, appointed, Mr Lund assumed the key post of regional director for Europe. In recent years Mr Lund has also acted as deputy to Mr Vines. Now he will devote his full time to this post and lead the headquarters group which co-ordinates LW.S. promotion policies and marketing operations throughout the world
Mr Lund will visit New Zealand after the annual meeting of the LW.S. board in Melbourne in mid-October. The direction of 14 national branches of the LW.S. and two smaller technical offices in Europe, formerly handled byMr Lund, will now be vested in two new European regional directors.
Southern Europe will he controlled by Mr Philipp Durr, director of the German branch for the last 15 years. The director for Northern Europe is expected to be announced shortly.
